Bohl & House, LLC was founded by business partners Ryan K. Bohl, CPA and Edward T. House, CPA.  Both partners had worked at BKD, one of the 1o largest public accounting firms in the country, for several years prior to leaving their positions to start their life-long dream of being business owners.  Armed with the mission to bring their large firm experience and expertise to the small business market at prices those small business owners could afford, the two partners opened their first office located in Springfield, MO on November 1, 2011.  

Shortly after opening, Bohl & House acquired a small book of business consisting of about 150 individual tax clients from a retiring accountant and also began ‘hitting the pavement’ to grow their business.  In late 2012, a second office was opened in Jefferson City, MO.  Over the next three years, Ryan and Edward turned their 150 original client base into nearly 1,000 individual and business clients, mostly coming through client referrals and a growing network of business owners.  

Then, in mid-2015, an opportunity arose to acquire another public accounting firm based in Springfield, MO: Samek & Company, LLC.  Samek & Company, owned by J. Edward Samek, had been in business in the Springfield area for several decades and had a similar array of services and background to Bohl & House, LLC.  As a result of the acquisition, Bohl, House & Samek, CPA & Advisors was formed on November 1, 2015.  Bohl, House & Samek continued to grow their business, having as many as 20+ people on staff between the two offices who provided tax, accounting, payroll, auditing, business planning, and other consulting services to more than 2,000 clients in a variety of industries. 

After operating both the Springfield and Jefferson City offices for another 6 years or so, the partners decided to sell off their Springfield office to another CPA firm, leaving just the Jefferson City office and its staff of 5 employees.  Then in 2024, the firm rebranded to BHS CPAs And Advisors and Ryan became the sole owner of the firm so that Edward could pursue other opportunities.  

BHS CPAs and Advisors in Jefferson City continues to serve its clients accounting, payroll, and tax needs, in addition to focusing on proactive tax and business planning and consulting to really bring additional value to their clients.
